SOULFUL RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR DESIGN

Redesign and significant expansion of a Spanish beachside bungalow obsessed with re-invention. When our creative clients, a musician and his family, approached us to expand and reimagine their cozy hacienda in a small SoCal beach town just a whisper away from the shore, we couldn’t wait to tell their story.

The home is situated in a historically protected neighborhood, so we had to be mindful of preserving its original facade and historic roots while doubling its square footage during the residential interior design process. Our design narrative for the project is an aspirational blend of textures, colors and functional architecture, keeping in mind the client’s desire for a relaxed, happy and accessible space where creativity can flourish while connecting with family life. We blended West Coast beach casual with mid-century modern and a touch of bohemian flair to achieve the client’s overall design goals.

As you enter the home, you are welcomed by an eclectic fusion of mid-century modern furnishings and contemporary art, each piece carefully curated to reflect the creative spirit of its owners. The Moroccan rugs and sheepskin throws speak boldly with the angular edges of classic mid-century pieces and pops of color throughout. The sun-soaked primary suite is airy and bright, exuding a feeling of crisp, salty air. 

The open-plan kitchen and dining room captures the soul of the house, making it perfect for gatherings, large or small. We transformed the backyard into an outdoor oasis with comfortable seating arrangements and lush greenery, ideal for entertaining. To provide the professional musician in the family with a creative refuge, we converted the garage into a space where he can play piano and write songs.

Our design approach for this residential interior design project was to create a home that offers each family member their own private escape. We achieved this by creating an uncomplicated and soulful space where creativity and individuality flourish.
