Fear of the Unknown

A PHOTOGRAPHIC ESSAY

“Uncontrollable,” a moody photographic essay exploring the darker side of life and our uncomfortable emotions. The project focuses on the emotion of “fear of the unknown.” Blurred imagery and elements of restraint combine to create a chaotic dreamlike state that is equal parts bad dream and reality. Dark shadowy shapes represent the looming unknown circumstances in our lives over which we cannot control. Whether it’s the fear of the future or uncertainty in our relationships, this emotion can be quite powerful and overwhelming.

We can explore these feelings through storytelling and imagery to better understand them. We may not always be able to control the unknown, but through this darkness and chaos, we can begin to make sense of our fears and learn how to move forward despite them.
