La Factoria Nueva
SWERVE, a side project by a pair of LA based fashion designers, envisioned a space that blurred the boundaries between art, fashion and gathering place. Known for their bold colorful style, the interior palette reflects the duo’s adventurous spirit. Swerve’s functionality as both a retail store, exhibition space and manufacturing facility required a multi-level programmatic approach to branding and interior design. The silk-screeners and sewers who are customizing t-shirts with customer curated bling (think epaulets, fringe, rhinestones, studs and more) in real time, are housed in the rear of the space behind a take-out type curtain and counter. Mobile racks house not only blank shirts, but contained giant jars full of various accessories and embellishments for complete shirt customization.
