MOJAVE HILLS & BIG SKY CAFE
A Re-Imagined Roadside Inn
BRIEF | The update of an 18-unit motel, Mojave Hills in the California desert captures the youthful spirit of freedom and exploration that a road trip brings. The original adobe style structure is retained with updated guest rooms and a re-imaged café. Color inspiration for the project comes from just outside the door; pale, sun-bleached hues, think sky and sand – set against warm wood tones tell the aspirational story. The Big Sky Café features a long table-height bar set below a wall of windows to take in the spectacular desert landscape beyond and provides the perfect place for introspection and re-connection.
